Reno Air Races... and air show
Friday, September 12, 2008
Well, we’re back in Reno for the full-blown air races and air show! The RARA (Reno Air Race Association) people have been really helpful with getting us set up with a great space to loan out gear and do camera cleanings and repairs. The photographers are really nice people and are great shooters! The air show images are easy in comparison to the air racing pics from the pylons and they are the best in the world at it! So, instead of heading out to the pylons this time (check my blog archive for the last time I was here in June...) I stayed back and managed the depot. I did get to go out and shoot some Thunderbirds images as well as a couple of F-22 Raptors that flew in. I just love shooting this stuff...
All of the images that I took over these two days were with my new D90, 16-85mm, 70-300mm VR and the Thunderbird afterburner picture was with the 500mm VR... The D90 really shot well and kept up with the speed. I can’t wait to shoot it on vacation this week.
We got out real early for sunrise this morning and that was well worth the early wake up call! The Thunderbirds were just sitting by themselves on the flight line and the light was getting better by the minute.
The airshow is sponsored by Breitling watches and they have a big tent with all sorts of ways to spend a lot of money! They even gave me a hat for wearing my Breitling! How nice...
Joining us this were are our good friends Moose and Sharon Peterson. They have been extremely gracious in volunteering to help us loan out gear and offer assistance to the photographers here. We were photographing the F22 Raptors and I shot this picture of Sharon which I thought was fun. Sharon shot the two pictures of Moose and I... they came out great!
I’ll be on vacation starting tomorrow so hopefully I’ll have some pictures from Seattle and Alaska. I (we) can’t wait! So, lot’s of new stuff to see and photograph.
Thanks for stopping by... Until next time...
